I had never been to Port Douglas before I visited and recorded this 4K walking tour in the Far North Queensland town less than an hour north of Cairns.
I started my walk just outside the main drag, on the water and close to a seaside chapel.
There is also a war memorial monument in Port Douglas Park.
Port Douglas is filled with shops, pubs and cafes and is a great place for a walk.
And there are some leafy streets. Really leafy streets.
Port Douglas is a laid back, picturesque coastal town about an hour North of Cairns, and has a population of around 3,500 but is a tourist hot-spot so that can mean its population can double during non-pandemic peak times. Kylie Minogue filmed her music clip to “It’s No Secret” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RN-RoBVBefY in Port Douglas, and Bill Clinton visited in 1996 and 2001 for holiday vacation.
It’s a pleasant location for a 4K walking tour, combining beach, shops and parks. There are a number of heritage listed buildings including the chapel St Mary’s by the Sea. The weather was good, people were out and about enjoying the day, and I had a great time shooting this walking tour of Port Douglas.
