I travelled to Brisbane to visit Signature Restaurant at the Emporium Hotel in Grey Street, Southbank for a five course truffle lunch with paired wines.
As we were early for our reservation, we enjoyed a pre-lunch drink downstairs at the Piano Bar.
They have a signature espresso martini:
Upstairs in Signature, the afternoon kicked off with some tasty bread.
Course 1
Gruyere Panna Cotta – Prosciutto, seed cracker, green bean & truffle vinaigrette.
Paired with a D’Arenberg polly NV Sparkling from McLaren Vale, SA.
Course 2
Abrolhos Island Scallop. Black garlic gnocchi, cauliflower puree, truffle emulsion.
Paired with a white. I can’t recall what type unfortunately but it went well with the dish.
Course 3
Brisbane Valley Quail Tortellini. Sauteed mushrooms, leek, truffle pecorino.
Paired with Vinden Estate Basket Press Shiraz from Hunter Valley NSW.
Course 4
Sirloin of Wagyu Beef. Celeriac, braised shallots, pancetta, watercress, truffle jus.
Paired with Stoney Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Campania, Tasmania.
Course 5
Chocolate & Sunchoke. Valrhona Bahibe Chantilly, sunchoke ice cream, fudge, truffle.
Paired with a Frogmore Creek Iced Riesling from Coal River in Tasmania.
There was a bonus truffle to end the meal too!
To wind up a magnificent experience, we adjourned to the restaurant bar for a glass of wine.
