Chinese dinner in Emerald, Queensland

Part of my Christmas road trip in Queensland involved an overnight stop in Emerald.

It’s a cool little town out of the way and it’s managed to maintain a lot of its character in town. The train station is a great heritage building, right in the middle of town:

When evening arrived I was keen to get out and about and track down some Australian-Chinese cuisine small towns in Australia renowned for, and it didn’t take long to track down ABC Chinese Restaurant.

I really enjoyed the place mats. I’m the year of the tiger:

It was soon time to check out the menu:

My meal started with some prawn toast:

And some wine:

And the main course, fried rice and honey chicken. My go to!

Overall, pretty good Australia-Chinese food, in a nice town. The only blight on the evening was a fly ended up in my wine. I showed the waitress and she took the glass away, and that was that. No replacement. A definite downer to end an otherwise good meal.
