Spending a night or more at Hotel Agan is an excellent base for exploring the Old Town of Istanbul.
Hotel Agan however, will not be to everybody’s tastes.
It is affordable accommodation, and with that affordability comes fairly basic rooms, but the rooms are perfectly comfortable, bathrooms modern, and the decor and decorating apt.
The staff at Agan are friendly and helpful and speak excellent English.
The restaurant/pub provides some tasty menu items and ice cold Efes beer, whilst the outdoor seating area is a great place to while away time and watch some of the world go by.
Breakfast is good too. People may be turned off by the street cats wandering in, but whilst tourists continue to feed them there’s not much Agan can do to stop them returning.
Whilst I loved the unique presentation Agan offers, I also like that it is right in the heart of the Old City but in a fairly quiet street that is only a short stroll away from the more busy area.
Agan is definitely not five star but is a cheerful, uniquely Turkish hotel, well located and a comfortable place to stay.
